Bespoke Service for Growing Fashion Label
When stylist Greg Lang launched fashion label Navy London, he knew that if he was to build a successful business, fulfilling wholesale orders effectively would be key.
Eight years on and with contracts agreed with online retailers ASOS and Zalando and a concession in Top Shop Oxford Street business was booming. It became clear that professional fulfilment support was needed to deal with the increasing number of orders and the specific requirements of the retailers.
After researching his options, he approached eCommerce fulfilment specialist Mail Workshop, which provides warehousing and pick and pack services to eCommerce companies across the UK and overseas.
The team at Mail Workshop used their experience in the B2C eCommerce sector to develop a streamlined system, which allows orders to be reworked in as little as two days. Goods are received directly from China every few weeks, unpacked and checked by a specialist team before being repacked according to the retailers’ specifications.
Greg said, “Initially we managed the fulfilment in-house but it was always a complex and time-consuming job and as we got bigger it became more complicated, took longer and needed more space. Unless I was going to move premises I needed to outsource to a partner I could trust to manage this part of the business for me.”
“Once you get to a certain size it’s something that really needs experts involved. The retailers each have their own delivery processes and as a supplier you have to meet their requirements exactly or risk having your shipments returned. We can’t afford for this to happen so everything has to be absolutely right.”
“Some have restrictions on the size or weight of boxes and different retailers want garments packaging differently. Some want the same sizes packed together, some want the same styles together. Some want hangers, others don’t. The permutations really are endless. Then on top of all that they have to be addressed and labelled absolutely correctly to make sure they get delivered to the right part of the business.”
Sales of Navy London clothing have risen significantly over the past 12 months and consignment numbers have more than doubled. Greg added, “For me, wholesale is definitely the way forward. It allows me to concentrate on ensuring the brand retains its signature style and stays on trend while still getting in front of consumers.”
Mark Rosenberg, managing director of Mail Workshop, added, “Picking and packing requirements vary with every eCommerce client. We recognise that no two businesses are the same and we pride ourselves on tailoring our services to meet individual demands. Our experienced team hand packs to ensure accuracy and it means we can also manage extremely complex jobs where multiple products need to be sorted, reworked and despatched.”
Mail Workshop specialises in print and eCommerce Fulfilment, enabling brand Managers, advertising agencies, printers and publishers to optimise product and printed matter management and distribution, via a network of mailing and carrier partners.
